In Reply To: Unlike you I scored at the bottom end of my practicing range: 169. I was definitely hoping for more, but I'm not gonna despair yet. With a 3.73 and other positives in the whole package I imagine I still have a strong chance at Columbia, NYU, U of C. Clearly HYS is out, but I'll live. (Actually, I wasn't even going to apply to Y & S even if I got a 180 -- for lifestyle reasons -- but H would definitely be a treat.) Anyway, I'm just sort of relieved it's all out of my hands now. Congrats, Kid Jr., and keep us posted. Fred
Message: Fred, you have a very good chance at the schools you mentioned. Even with the upswing in admissions, our entering class at Columbia came in with median scores of 3.69/170. You sound like you're right there. Of course, they're expected to go up again this year. By the way, unless you're really short of money, you really should apply to HYS, you'll never know unless you do, and you can always reject them later if you're admitted. People sometimes change their minds between now and June. I'd hate to see you regret not going to the TOP 3 simply because you didn't try. Good Luck
