In Reply To: zero sense and has no bears no relevance to the substance of my post. example: "But all your ranting isn't going to change reality, and a bright applicant will factor in all the relevant considerations." that has nothing to do with my rant; my rant is targetting the hyper-reliance by minority applicants (even the finest of them) on their being minorities in EVERYTHING they do. it's just annoying and like i said, perpetuates a very color-sensitive world; something URMs (nice acronym btw) should be striving towards. more later
Message: Sorry, my response seems pretty on point to me. You said: "who gives a shit if you're black, white, green or any mix of the three?" My response: admissions boards. You said: "dont think or expect that the fact that your skin is black should make anything different." She can very much think and expect that being black will make a difference in her admissions chances. The poster came on the board to ask a legitimate question. You became upset because she provide information on being black. Why did she do it? Because in many ways, it's as important to the equation as her GPA is. As I said, I'm not a URM myself, but I've been around the block long enough to see that the effects of racism still have a significant impact on this country. Do I know if it has personally impacted this posters life? No, I don't have a clue. But I'm certain it will matter that she's black.
