I am from California, and I want to practice in west coast. BYU is one of the best value for the money. I have real reasons for low GPA and I am hoping that they will look at letters from counselors and doctors. I am aiming for high 160s, in Dec. It would be good to have your contact. Thanks,

BYU is a great school for the price and its law school graduates place really well in the West. I know things are tight right now in the economy, but all of my friends have 2 or 3 offers right now. I have had success as well in the job hunt. I think the 1L entering class medians this year were around 3.7 GPA and 164 LSAT, so it is pretty competitive. BYU's Law School is only 25 years old, but it is a school on the upswing. I think they do try to look at the total package and try to look at more than just the numbers. I know diversity is important to the administration.
And by the way, Utah is a lot easier to get into than BYU right now. The means when I applied were 3.4 and 158 (Utah) compared to 3.6 and 161 (BYU). But Utah is a really good law school and has been well respected in the region for a long time.
