I am happy at the law school that I am currently a 1L at. It is a top 50% of tier 1 school with great students and profs. I cannot complain about my experience here so far.
However, my plan is to take my JD from the Midwest and work in DC, probably in government. Would I be doing myself a disservice if I transferred to a school like Georgetown or another top 14 school in the east coast megalopolis? It would be closer to DC (and home and my undergrad roots).
Granted I would transferring to a better school, but is it worth it after settling down into a good 1L situation? I guess my only problem with my current situation is location. I am pretty far from the action that I am interested in.
thanks in advance for any helpful comments.

i guess you should wait to see how the grades turn out before you worry too much about this. very often, the dilemma of whether to transfer turns on this central irony: if you've performed well enough to transfer to an elite school, then you probably don't need to. in other words, the sort of performance that will get you into nyu or columbia (maybe g'town is somewhat less selective?) as a transfer will also put you in a very good position to get the sort of job you wanted in the first place without transferring.
