In Reply To: After having been through the process (I applied to 15 schools last year!), I am loath to put more effort than I absolutely have to into the reapplications process. Especially since my job keeps me pretty busy during the day, and sometimes the night. Would it hurt my chances too much to use the same recs and personal statement as I did last year? Or should I get new recs and prepare a new personal statement? I'm applying to a subset of the schools I applied to last year.
Message: And if there's a better rec out there to be had, you may as well get it too. I'm with you, a full-time working reapplicant myself (although all but two of the schools I'm applying to this year are first-timers). Time's tight, but it's only October. Update, sharpen, get feedback on your ps. The conventional wisdom is that it's the one thing you still have the power to control, so make it good. I don't think a piece of writing is ever so perfect that it can't be improved on. And I don't have the lowdown on which schools or what results you met with last year, so further informed comment is impossible. Did all 15 schools reject you, or did you get accepted from lower-ranked ones and decide to aim higher this year (my case)? Pay attention to your application strategy. It's not unheard of to apply to 15 schools, but an important point is to apply to at least a couple of schools where you are both reasonably assured of being admitted and willing to attend. On the basis of last year, you should have a pretty clear sense of where you will and will not get accepted (unless LSAT score went up significantly, nobel prize was awarded, etc.). I will tell you that this year's admissions look to be even tougher than last year's also tough cycle. Best of luck.
