If you think lawyers are the only ones slaving away then you're sorely mistaken. I've got buddies starting out in the tech industry and they're working over 60 hrs/week, going in on weekends, etc. for 50-60k a year. Granted the tech industry sucks right now so companies can take advantage of them but that is not a whole lot of money, especially if you're living in Silicon Valley.
