A friend had been wait listed at Stanford and was recently notified of her acceptance. She's paid her deposits at NYU and was planning on studying in New York. She's traveling internationally right now so I thought I'd pose the question to folks on this board.
She doesn't want to be far from family and friends (located in New Jersey) but feels that she might be sacrificing too much by turning Stanford down and sticking with NYU. What are the benefits of attending Stanford over NYU simply based on rank? Should the prestige factor be weighted considerably? What advice would you give her?

Then I'd say she's a FOOL for choosing Fordham over Stanford.
NYU's reputation is such that I'm not worried that she will be an underemployed lawyer upon graduating, not like the miserable masses of graduates from non-top 14 schools.
She's only making a big mistake if her goal it so be a law professor or Supreme Court Clerk. In those cases, she should go to Stanrod.
