In Reply To: #1. dont put refs avail on request. totally useless information. drives people crazy since this is rather obvious. #2. you probably dont want to put an objective either. put it in your cover letter. #3. you have way too much stuff here to fit on 1 page as far as i can see. (i mean 1 page using no font smaller than 11pt) cut down. like cut down some of the unnecessary information under your education. no one will care that you took more units than you needed, that you took more English and research, and that you worked while in college. if you want to make yourself look like someone who works hard, put it in your cover letter or say it during the interview. #4. dont mention under AA degree that you graduated in 9 months. its redundant. #5. dont put reason for leaving. if they want to know that, they will ask in interview. #6. this is optional, but you may want to leave out LDS missionary. if you want to stay in Utah, leave it. outside, i think people could ding you for that unless they themselves are Mormon or at least religious.
Message: In reference to recommendation #6, that's one that many former Mormon missionaries have. In certain areas of the country (Utah, S. Idaho, suburban Arizona, Las Vegas to a lesser extent), it's not such a thorny issues because there are so many Mormons. However, some people are uncomfortable with explicit references to religion on resumes. This creates a unique problem for Mormon missionaries because (a) they were gone for 2 years and have to explain that, (b) many of the skills they claim (usually language) are direcetly derived from that experience, and (c) most of them are really proud that they were missionaries and like to slap it on resumes. A and B can present problems, but one can easily claim fluency in a language without making reference to the fact that you tried to convince people to join your religion for 2 years.
