I'm sorry but I'm a little dubious about your claims. Elitist biglaw only wants top 10% from schools like Fordham & GW, so why would elitist SF biglaw recruit top 25% from Hastings? And I also have a hard time believing that SF biglaw believes that Hastings top 1/4th is equivalent to Stanford and Boalt students. DC biglaw doesn't see top GW students as equal to GULC students and NYC biglaw doesn't view top Fordham students as equal to Columbia or NYU students.
Also, my understanding is that Boalt 2Ls had a harder time finding work this summer in SF. If that's true, then I cannot believe that Biglaw looked at top 25% at Hastings this year.

its not utopia by any means. but yes, biglaw does recruit hastings. certain firms like Brobeck will only take the top 10~25% depending upon their need, but firms like Mofo, Mccutchen, etc. will consider the top 25% here.
why? b/c unlike what most people who are bred on USNWR believe, hastings churns out good lawyers. part of it is its heavy emphasis on legal writing and moot court. (just check and see that Boalt's latest legal writing instructor was a former hastings professor with a hastings JD)
oh yes... and many people who end up being top of the class here could fairly easily xfer to a school like boalt. for those who don't leave, if you are already top of the class and on law review, why xfer?
of course, take all of my comments w/ a grain of salt. i dont mean to say that hastings is comparable to HYSCCN or anything, but hey, we're a darn good school. :)
