Yes, UCLA, Westwood, Santa Monica are SO nice. I love the environment there.
Personally, I don't think USC has a lot going for it in the surrounding neighborhood department, although the word is no 1L has much time to soak up the surroundings anyway...may as well be in Des Moines.
Frankly, I think UCLA is the much stronger school all the way around compared to USC. I know USC has its famous alumni network and is well-established, but I guess I've just never had a particularly good impression.
I would probably go there though, if I didn't get into the three higher ranked law schools in CA. And if you do well at USC the first year, I'm sure you could transfer to the right side of the tracks.

ucla is in a better location, it's cheaper, it's a better school...alas. oh, well, that's life, i guess. have you contacted ucla at all about your application? i'm wondering if i should send in another recommendation or write a letter to get myself off the waitlist. ah, forget it. i'm tired of begging.
