In Reply To: What's your assessment of LLM programs in corporate/securities law, such as those at NYU, Fordham, etc? Is this a viable way to get into BigLaw or a BB bank? Thanks.
Message: I tend to think that an LLM in corporate and securities is more something you do to learn the field, rather than a real leg up into BIGLAW or a BB bank. I consider very few LLM programs to offer major career boosts, though a few do. Other LLMs may make sense, but they make sense as educational experiences, not great market value enhancers. I don't know those programs well enough to really opine, but to me that's not the way in. OTOH, if one had good grades at a tier 2, wanted to be in NYC, couldn't easily find an NYC job, and wanted to acquire skills and have an NYC launching pad for interviews, that might be an idea I could understand.
