The only reason I am worried about it is because I want to have some sort of gauge of how well I will do before I get there. If I have some confidence going in, I think it will have a far better impact on my performance than if I went in unsure of where I will be relative to the rest of my class. As it is, I am going to a second tier school and, from the opinions I get from this message board, if I want to leave Cleveland, I need to be at least in the top 10% of my class. That's pretty hard to do. If it's a matter of how well I did in college, then I don't really have anything to worry about. But if my success in law school is determined by how well I did on the LSATS, then I am a little worried. Any help I can get to relieve my anxiety would be great. Thanks. |

Take the energy you're putting into relieving your anxiety, and use it to prepare for 1L instead.
That's what I'm doing, and it's helping. I feel more confident, not because someone reassured me, but because I'm more prepared.
Buy some books. Law School Confidential has a lot on preparing for law school. You might want to buy your 1L course outlines early -- I did, and I've been reading my torts outline the past week or so. It's actually fun to read. Also get "Getting to Maybe" about doing well on law school exams.
Try reading cases. There are tons of cases online. Get used to reading them, and figuring out the various important parts of the case (you'll learn these from Law School Confidential).
Finally, if you're not doing it already, try getting into an exercise program. I was in really lousy shape at the beginning of the year (I've been sitting at a computer for about six years now with very little exercise).
Now I'm on a diet and weightlifting/cardio program. It's great -- I don't feel like I'm going to fall asleep in meetings anymore. I know I'll be more alert in class when I start school, and now that I've got a healthy routine going it will be much easier to maintain than it would have if I started it at the same time I started law school. It's a great way to combat stress, too.
