thanks a lot janet, your description of the legal scene in Chicago is very helpful. to be honest, i'm choosing Loyola over some other schools because my fiance is starting a masters program at IIT so i need to go to a school in the city. i would have gone to U of Chicago or Northwestern if i could have got in, but with a 162 and 3.25 gpa i don't think it would have happened. if i can finish in the top 10% i am going to try to transfer to northwestern, but Loyola is giving me a one third tuition scholarhip so it seems like my best option. being that i'm from california it's very difficult to judge the schools reputations and the insight you've given really helps. also, i'm glad to hear that you love chicago, because if i go to law school out there, it's probably where i'll be for a while. i think i read somewhere that you are going to harvard, congrats on that! anyway, i'm still waiting to hear from hastings, and if i don't get in there, i think Loyola is where i'll be. ultimately, i just want to go to the school that is going to give me the most options when it comes time to get a job. thanks again for the info, and if you think of anything else worth mentioning in regards to Loyola, please let me know. |

Yeah, I'm going to Harvard this fall. But I told all my friends that I wish Harvard/Yale would pick itself up and move to Chicago. This is a fantastic place. It is hard to look at schools that aren't in your area and don't have a really obvious reputation. I have a friend going to Loyola next year (over Kent and DePaul), and the feeling I've got from him, in addition to my own observations is that it's definitely the best choice amongst the three. I can't think of that much else to say about Loyola. You can always look out for my friend, Konrad (although he'll be in the part-time program, so you'd probably only meet if you were taking evening classes). Good luck with your 1L year. If you have any other general Chicago-type questions, feel free to drop me a line (I'm sort of an expert on bars/clubs/general unhealthy activities/oh, and recreational sports, volunteer work, and shopping). Have a great time!
