In Reply To: that's nice, i have an awesome house in the nicest part of DC, a great salary and choose not to drive a bmw and have NO law school debt. I love my work and am satified as well. My wife wants to work, becuase she has a great career too. i am not sure what one thing has to do with the other. i think you might want to tell the nice law students how you got that way instead of giving them vapid pep talk about "going for it." it is not about "fearing success" it's about "how" to achieve it. in my case it was a legal specialty in demand. As for the 45 hour b.s., you also may want to tell them that you are not typical.
Message: I am 25, and living my dream. Why is that silly? No one is forced to work in a white shoe "sweatshop" firm. I have plenty of friends who work hours similar to my 40-45 hour schedule. Hell, my firm employs 125 of them. As far as my sharing my lifestyle with the perspective students being just a pep talk, I think not. This lifestyle is something I am proud of and have worked years for. I have never been distracted by my many, many, many whining sniveling peers who all thought of what I did as selling my soul; same for the fear of the great debt burden. Acheiving a goal is not silly. Being proud and sharing this information is not silly. Silly is telling me about your life that has no relation to the topic of this message board. Also, could you be any more condescending to the prospective students? (Tell the nice law students?) Give them more credit than that.
