In Reply To: right now i'm a paralegal at a BIGLAW firm in NYC. I took this job to see what it was like to be a lawyer, work in a law firm, etc. However, after doing this for 9 months i'm beginning to think that my destiny lies somewhere outside of the legal profession. is there any kind of logical tranistion after this job? or is it back to square one, trying to figure out what i want to do? any insight is greatly appreciated.
Message: Lots of people approach paralegalling as you did, and a good number of them reach the conclusion you did. Stay at your job long enough to keep it a positive resume item. I could reel off a half dozen jobs that paralegal training might help you with, but I really think that you should go back to "square one" and decide what you really want to be. The fear that you might lose the extraordinary advantage of a 1 year or 2 year paralegal resume itme is not a good reason to do things you don't want to do.
