The value of taking time off |

Almost everyone who have consulted advises me to take a year or two off before entering law school for various reasons. Although this might sound pathetic, I really don't want to do anything else after college except go to law school. Even still, people say it's better to take some time off. Is that time off really that valuable? Should I force myself to take time off assuming that must do me some good? Any suggestions or opinions would be gladly appreciated. |

The previous postings are right in that maturity is not necessarily a function of experience, but I still think it's worthwhile taking the time off from school, particularly to go on to professional schools (vs. like a MS or PhD). I think the time off helps you come to terms for yourself why you are going to law school (other than "I don't have anything better to do" or "Everyone else is going"). It also prepares you to know what you want to get out of the program and maximize the benefits from the experience.
Good luck with your decision.
