Are commercial outlines those that are published in books and would it help to study one of those books prior to my first year? |

Commercial outlines are essentially law school Cliff Notes. (My favorites are Emanuel and the Examples & Explanations series.)
By no means would it be helpful for you to look at these before going to law school. They are meant to aid you as you progress through your courses, as well as help you review before final exams.
