I am a senior in college and I plan on applying to law school in the fall. I often read this board and I must say that I am hesitant to apply given what I have read. My goal is to obtain a government position or perhaps a position in the jag corps. I don't have any biglaw aspirations, I just want to make enough money to have an upper middle class life with a stimulating, fulfilling career. If I plan on going ot a tier 2 school, (Florida State, Georgia State, Temple, Villanova, American, Rutgers, or Miami) am I dreaming? Should I even bother? Is it really that difficult to find a job? Any honest, informed advice would be greatly appreciated!!!! |

You must carefully consider whether a government lawyer salary, minus your student loan payments, will provide you with an "upper middle class life". I think not. You won't be financially better off than a school teacher, and that's strictly a middle class job.
