thanks for your thoughtful post. i was and am leaning towards michigan anyway, but i do appreciate the advice. my only reservations about michigan (vs. penn) were 1) the weather, 2) the size of ann arbor (i've lived inside city limits my entire life), and 3) placement on the east coast.
i recognize first that (1) realistically shouldn't be a factor, second that i probably could benefit from a change in enviornment from an urban school to a college town, and third that michigan does at least as well as penn with biglaw, particularly off the east coast where mich seems to do better. michigan's overall repuation seems to exceed penn's as well, especially with regard to clerkships, etc.
but as someone who will likely be attending michigan in the fall, what in particular have you found that "stinks" about the law school--and also, how have you found the law school's overall enviornment (cordial, competitive, etc.)? do you have any specific advice or words of wisdom for an incoming student at michigan law?
thanks a ton--DREW

greetings all...
you seem to have wrapped up your discussion already, but only just saw this board. if you are interested in talking, i was a summer starter this past year; and i chose michigan over penn, for a wide ranging number of reasons (not because either school is so far superior to one another).
i'd be happy to talk with you about michigan, unless you've already had your fill of it.
life is great here, but i can see why you'd have such a tough choice between two great schools.
drop a posting if you want to talk about michigan further.
