I just got accepted at Oklahoma City University. I'm on the waitlist at the University of Tulsa. Anyone else out there applying/accepted at these schools? If so, do you have anything to say about either school or the cities they are in? |

OKC is largely a commuter type law school. It carries much less clout than OU.
I had an uncle, recently retired, who went there and
went on to become an exec at a large corporation. Still, I think of OKC as less than your best resume item for placement in OK. Tulsa
is a bit better for placement, to my way of thinking, but still well short of U of Oklahoma.
I haven't checked the figures, but my recall is that Tulsa is reasonably expensive on tuition; of course, you'll know better than my flawed memory.
Tulsa is a surprisingly livable place with unexpected charm and culture, and nearby hiking and the like. OKC is
a bit more isolated, but not a bad city at all. I've known a number of professionals--attorneys and otherwise--who move to/stay in
those cities because they
have low costs of living and
it's easy to buy a house in a good school district suburb.
OK's oil ties used to make it a bit more boom and bust than much of the midwest, but I'm not sure if this is still true. To me, OK would be a nice place to live and practice, but only if one's law school expense was very low to make up for potentially non-outstanding
salaries.
