what is a law review? |
| Message: |
It is a scholarly journal that each law school publishes at least a few times a year. It is mostly composed of articles on some legal topic written by professors who submit it for publication and student notes and comments (less indepth articles) written by the students on law review.
Every law school has a few journals that are run by students - law review is the most prestigious one. Students of the law school make up both the editorial board and the staff or member positions (who are basically responsible for bluebooking or making sure that the citations are correct). Students on law review are either in the top 10% or so of their class (depends on the school), or submitted a top writing sample. Although the requirements for getting on to law review differ for each school, law review is what 1L's all reach for when studying for exams. It is instantly recognized by recruiters and considered to be the top prize in law school (aside from being, of course, in the top 2% of your class which separates you from even the other people on law review).
