HLS...Seems Quite the Possibility |

I ended up at Fordham, a respectable mid-top tier school.
Sorry, but HLS is out for you. A 160 is not going to cut it. You should apply to Fordham, Cardozo, Brooklyn Law School. Apply to Columbia and NYU as reaches. I would also send an application to GW, (G-town being quite a reach), BC, BU.
As for the amount of debt, don't sweat it. Unless you go to a state school, you will end up owing about the same (give or take a few thousand dollars), and going to a lesser ranked school to save a few bucks is not worth it. A lot of schools have some merit-based and need-based scholarships and grants, and you should also look into private organizations with ethnic or religious affiliations that give scholarships. Law school is an investment, and the hope is that you will make enough money to pay back the loans fairly quickly. If you want to do public sevice, then you should look into the school's loan forgiveness program and special scholarships.
good luck. |

Thanks for the feedback. The reason that I raised HLS as a definite possibility is that my LSAT of 168 actually puts me a couple of points above their 15th percentile ranking for the 01 entering class and my gpa, while although lower than the average of the students accepted, is clearly buffered by the shorten period in which my degree was completed.
I am actually looking to possibly take the exam again as I took it very early on in my undergrad craeer and wothout the help of any prep course. The HLS market is indeed a tough one to crack but with my numbers along with a solid personal statement and good LORs, I feel that it is definitely feasible.
As for Columbia and NYU; I am a bit bewildered by they being looked upon as reaches. My GPA and LSAT fall right in the mid range for NYU and Columbia. I know that they are not "giveaways" but I definitely did not think that they were "slight possibilities". As I am new to this any feedback would be helpful.
