I don't personally have a big problem with AA, but to say that chances of a white male getting bumped from "a school you would have otherwise gone to are slim to none" is one of the most patently ridiculous assertions I have ever heard on this board.
Fact is, IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME.
Most top schools use a modified-number driven admissions process in which they divide students into three categories: Presumptive admit, presumptive deny, and everyone else. For a black student applying to Harvard, a 168-169 Lsat is a presumptive admit. For a white student, its 170-172 (depending on GPA).
A white male applicant to Michigan will not get in with a 163 (unless he has a near 4.0 from an Ivy), while a black applicant with the same LSAT has about a 50-50 shot.
You should read about UTexas and Umich's lawsuit defenses, where these things are spelled out.
Again, I don't have a problem with AA per se, but let's not pretend it doesn't make a difference or that nobody is affected by it. That's ridiculous.
Indeed, if no one is affected by it, then why bother to do it at all? Certainly if it doesn't mean choosing less-qualified (numerically, at least, I realize that there are other qualifications) minorities OVER more-qualified (numerically) whites, then it doesn't mean anything at all and we shouldn't bother.
The fact is that every year thousands of minorities do make it in to top schools, who therefore deny admission to whites with better numerical qualifications.

I just want to say how disgusted I was reading this AA talk. I have one question for all of the ignorant minds--do you all really believe that every minority student in top schools are only placed due to AA? FYI there are many intelligent minorities across the nation that WORKED HARD for graduating with honors and/or high LSAT scores. Please stop underestimating us! That is exactly why AA was initiated in the first place--idiots BELIEVING we can't handle the work (or for this argument) or EDUCATION!!!
