SERIOUS QUESTION ABOUT COOLEY |

O.K., I am thinking about law school, but my undergraduate GPA and LSAT are not so stellar. My UGPA is 2.6 (English major)and my LSAT is 146. My UGPA is mainly because I worked constantly during college to pay bills, and admittedly partied too much. I did, however, try to redeem myself by going to Graduate School and getting my Masters in History with a GPA of 3.6, as well as a couple of papers which received awards and which I presented at historical meetings. My focus now would be to get a J.D. and combine it with my M.A. so I can teach history and maybe history of law (or business law if I had to) at the college level (doesn't have to be a huge college, I'd be happy at a small college.) I thought about the Ph.D. route, but I've heard horror stories about people being 7 years into their programs and still struggling with their dissertation. I can't afford that. So that being said, I'd like some advice on the programs at Thomas Cooley and at Michigan State (Detroit College of Law). What are my chances of getting in with my numbers, and how are the living conditions at these two colleges? Also, would anyone suggest other law schools in the midwest area that I could try. Again, I don't care about my chances at getting a BIGLAW job. I just want the training and the diploma so I can have a flexible resume when I apply for teaching positions.
