I'm a computer engineering graduate, starting a software position this fall. However, the idea of sitting in front of a computer the rest of my life sounds kind of horrible right now, and my high school mock trial glory are rising to the fore... ;)
I really don't know who to ask, so I'd figure I'd start here.
Would law schools even look at someone with a non pre-law background, like me? I have some pretty nice grades, and I seem to do well on standardized tests (if SAT translates to LSAT). Ideally, I would like to stay in Chicago and attend UOC, Northwestern, or Depaul...
Thanks for the input... |

Law schools care not about your undergraduate major; it can be in anything ranging from art to astrophysics. Plus, an undergraduate engineering degree along with a JD is extremely marketable: you could, for example, work in Intellectual Property and/or Patent law. In fact, I recommend that you take a look at the profiles of attorneys at Lyon & Lyon (http://www.lyonlyon.com), which is a mid-sized law firm near where I live. There are many successful attorneys who came from a similar background as yours. Best wishes.
