In Reply To: I just finished my first year at school in Boston, and our Civ Pro class read A Civil Action. Considering the reasons for which your professor probably assigned the book, the movie won't cut it. It simply doesn't go into the procedural aspect of the lawsuit in any depth, focusing instead on sensationalistic character portrayals. Not a great flick. The book is well worth reading, however, and can be a good frame of reference for procedure as the year goes on. Jerry Facher came and spoke to our class about the case at the end of the year, which was a nice touch. Schlictman, on the other hand, declined an invitation.
Message: We're assigned Buffalo Creek Disaster and he just threw A Civil Action out there as an option. I'll probably end up reading it anyway although I think for class that I'll be fine with just Buffalo Creek Disaster. Thanks for your input though SolicialScrutiny. Good luck in your 2nd year.
