In Reply To: I'm in the same boat...personally I'm just trying to read stuff, not in preparation for law school but just to pass the time until it begins. Most people have told me that any "preparation" is pretty much useless which I think is probably true to an extent. I did real One L (for kicks) and Law School Confidential. I think that both will probably help me and if they don't I can't see how any other books really would have. If anyone thinks that I'm foolish and should be training for the big "war" that's about to take place let me know so I can pass some more time...waiting for the "horror" to begin is killing me.
Message: Take it from me- the best thing you can do to "prepare" for first year law school is to enjoy your summer, nourish any and all relationships that are important to you (you won't have time 1st semester but those are the relationships that will keep you sane). Don't waste time trying to prepare- I did and it didn't help me at all. Everyone's experience is different and it all comes down to how you handle pressure and change. That being said, I want to address the "horror" (as you called it. It's alot of hard work, stress and very overwhelming, but 1st year law school is not all bad. You will meet interesting people, and discuss interesting topics with people who are interested in what you have to say. Additionally, there is a certain sense of comeraderie between those who go through it together. And lastly, the first year of law school will push you (or at least make you oush yourself), and you will come to realize that there is nothing you can't do if you are wiling to put in the time. A very strange feeling for many because if you got into law school at all you did well in college and many of us did well without giving %100. Good Luck.
