In Reply To: I'm trying to decide between these two schools and was looking for some advice. Before you write back and tell me this is a no-brainer and that I should go do Cornell (these message boards seem to be all about rankings), there are certain factors that make me lean towards GW: 1) I'm fairly certain I want to practice in DC when I graduate (or maybe Boston, but definitely in the northeast) 2) I've lived in DC for a few years and love it, and I'm not sure what the social scene is like in Ithaca, and whether it's possible to meet people other than law students. 3) I've heard that recruiting is difficult from Ithaca. And also that you miss out on the opportunity to work during your 2nd and 3rd years. One the flip side, I've visited Cornell and it seems pretty terrific. So any info on the environments of either school would be helpful.
Message: If the choice was between G-town and Cornell, then you should choose DC becuase you like it there. BUT, that's not the choice, it's between GW and Cornell. You should go to Cornell because it will be a lot easier to get a job in DC comign out of Cornell than coming out of GW. Bring lots of heavy clothing with you to Ithaca, it's a lot colder there in the winter than it is in DC.
