Actually there's more to starting your own practice than simply satisifying the State Bar regulations or the physical/financial aspects. It is rare that law school grads start up their practice right away, there is a lot to know about navigating the complex (and sometimes strange) federal and state court procedures to filing lawsuits, scheduling motions/hearings/conferences, as well as maintaining client files, billing and other staff concerns. It is easier said than done.
Many solo practitioners are attorneys who worked in bigger firms or have had extensive legal experience and were able to secure clients. Probably the toughest thing about starting solo right out of law school is 1)securing clients at all, and 2) establishing a reputation in the community (given that law students are
"toddlers in the law").
You might want to check with some of the Bar Association's web sites or Journals in your state to read about how to go about startiung your own practice..or ask someone at the Career Center of your law school about it.
good luck!
