I'm Black, went to top 10 liberal arts with a 3.3 in Economics. Worked for Top 20 Law Firm for 1 yr and 1 yr as an analyst at an internet company. Got a 171 on the LSAT.
However, I have a D in an unsignificant class and a W in Art History on my transcript. How important are these LITTLE THINGS. Also, how important are recommendations. |

You have some great things going for you. Your LSAT is VERY high and you have good outside experience. Your GPA might keep you out of the top couple of schools, but realistically you could be looking at a top ten school.
It is hard to say what a school will do, but I wouldn't worry a lot about individual grades. Certainly the W is nothing to worry about (I go to NYU and know plenty of people who have withdrawn from classes, including myself.) The D might hurt a little, but don't be afraid to explain why they shouldn't take that grade to be indicative of your ability. Good recommendations can help overcome any doubts as to your personal ability, and this is probably what they will look at if you are on the bubble.
Also, don't forget the importance of a personal statement. It shoudln't just be a repetition of a resume. It should tell something about what kind of person you are. This can have a very profound impact on admissions.
Good luck and I hope this info helped out some.
