NYU is not a top law school?

why does everyone takes these things so damn personally? and why is everyone so obesessed S&C, Davis, Cravath, and Wachtell? (okay, i retract wachtell from that grouping--over $200K in the first year is something about which to obsess, I guess.) but what about cleary, simpson, shearman, paul weiss, debevoise? i liked these firms much better than S&C and cravath. any opinions on summering at those places?
