In Reply To: Go to Columbia...get a job a Cravath, Skadden, etc...make $140k your first year....make partner by age 33 or so. Take home $1.3 million + a year until retirement. I don't see $100k as a waste at all.
Message: Each and every one of you seeking help on this board must have had at least one good reason for applying to, and ultimately enrolling in, law school. Have you forgotten yourselves so soon? Deep down, everyone attending law school knows that the decision was based on a desire to make a difference . . . be it a desire to save the environment, help battered women, or simply to enrich oneself intellectually and financially. You would all do well to ask yourselves what you would be doing if you had not decided to pursue a J.D. Chances are that most, if not all, of you would recall some lackluster alternative job or M.A. Choosing a profession is smart. Running away from your choice before having even attempted to enter the profession is not smart. Think about it. This is America, everyone. People with no education and no English language skills come here from all over the world and make huge incomes, legally, as a result of their persistence and determination. Imagine what those same immigrants would accomplish with your education? Get real and get to work. Nothing worth having is ever easy to obtain.
