In Reply To: Why does it matter when the background check is performed? If you don't have anything in your background that you aren't disclosing - it won't be a problem - before during or after. For ANY COMPANY you must disclose everything and answer every question - get your GPA correct, get your dates of employment correct and do not ever EVER say you have a degree you don't have. Don't worry if you paid your gas bill late a few times, if you went bankrupt and are applying for an auditor position - I'd mention that to the recruiter before they do a credit check - but don't lose sleep if paid your Mastercard 30 days late back in 1999. If you have a DUI -disclose this and tell the recruiter - these things will not generally bar you from employement with most companies - but if you lie about it or don't disclose it - then you have a big problem.
Message: you're the expert on this topic it seems. i think they are looking if you have a criminal record - a rapist, a murderer, or a bank robber. do they really care if you have credit problems - most of americans do. should they care if you got unpaid parking tickets on your records - not really. again, they are more looking for a criminal history. explains why criminals usually can't get jobs. just my two cents here.
