In Reply To: I lunch with people that take some of these programs sriously. We brain-stormed cost ideas and questions for Project Excellence like why do some cities have holiday parties and some have "people" teams-why 60 staff people from NDDPS/PSP/NDPG are being sent to NY for a weeklong office "meeting" in March(spring break)-why KPMG uses Office Tiger to farm US work out to India. We sent it to the E-mail address in the message-the one that asked for suggestions from employees. The mail box doensn't even function. Doesn't sound like they really need or want ideas from us.
Message: No holiday party? You in a smaller office? As far as Office Tiger is concerned, I'd look for more work going to our friends in India than less. With mgt looking to chop expenses, "soft" areas like CSS seem good targets. Their thoughts have to be--Why pay someone in the US a dollar when you can pay someone in India half that? It won't--and shouldn't--score any points with we employess in terms of "Best Place To Work" but it will save them a few bucks which seems to be the true "bottom line" no matter how much they "SAY" they want all of us to "like" them. I'm not mgt but I wouldn't think that NY "soiree" is going to take place. We got a memo about a midlevel Marketing or CSS guy leaving (Pierson??) and heard his "reports and operations" are now "being evaluated" by some "outside efficiency firm". It sounded like part of that NDDPS/PSP/NDPG group. Translation: heads and departments will roll. Between that, Office Tiger and "Project Excellence" (oh, boy), I'd guess it ain't gonna happen. Unless they have managed to sneak it under some partner's nose whose asleep at his wheel. I supposed dumber things have happened around here though.
