Ok, I recently went through a series of job interviews with a certain company. It began with a phone interview, where I was asked about salary requirements.
After that, I was called into the office and went through 6 interviews. I was then called back a second day and had another 4 interviews.
They just called to extend me an offer. However, the offered salary is significantly below my stated range. I think it is really unethical that this process went past the first phone interview. What do you think? |

I think you're a bit sensitive to think it's "unethical" - insulting and irritating, perhaps, but not unethical. Realize that as a hiring manager, one becomes accustomed to applicants aiming high on their salary demands - after all, it doesn't hurt to ask - so it's not that surprising that a company would think your salary "requirement" is actually part of a hiring package "wish list." Now if it were me, I wouldn't bother setting up even one inrterview with an applicant who stated a salary requirement beyond what I was willing to pay - but that's out of a desire to not waste time rather than an ethical qualm!
