A little subject change for a sec, if you will.
I've seen numerous posts on vault concerning applying for positions on corporate websites. What I'm curious about is anyone's thoughts on email, rather than simply applying on a corp site. Also, anyone ever sent a cover ltr/resume via FedEx directly to the hiring mgr?
Great posts..let me know your thoughts. |

First, I got my job through a close networking contact, but I'm speaking from experience. I was once directed to a hiring manager by someone inside the company, sent my info via normal mail, and got a handwritten interview invitation (did not get job). At an old summer internship I was once responsible for sifting through some resumes. Almost all of the people who had sent the resumes directly had no idea what they were doing. There was something depressing about them that screamed YOU DON'T WANT TO WORK WITH ME. If you can avoid coming off that way, go for it.
