In Reply To: The state of the "Market" does not have to be your state! Over a year ago, I experienced 9/11 when I'd just started my first job as an assistant controller straight out of college. Well, I guess some may say it was too good to be true, but I say that God truly worked in my life. I do not mean to be "religious" but being prayerful and not letting your faith decrease is so important. I found a job in less than 2 months and it wasn't through a friend or anyone who knew me. It was by the grace of God. I decided to apply for an admin position and after the HR officer saw my qualifications, she told me about a financial manager position that I am still in today! I love my job. Jesus has truly made the difference in my life. Keep the faith and stay prayerful!!!
Message: Yesterday's NY Times had an article that lends support to your advice. The article, in the Health section, highlighted research conducted on Tibetan monks (not exactly Christian, but I'd bet they've heard of Thomas Merton). Basically, the research indicated that the monks brains were wired differently (making the monks more peaceful, content). Apparently, the "mindfulness" of the monks contributed to this rewiring, but obviously the research is inconclusive. I've found that prayer promotes the mindfulness of which the Buddhists speak. As a recent entrant into The 405 Club, I find your advice timely. Thank you.
