Just writing as most of you are to vent my frustration with my job search and let you know about one experience I had just yesterday.
I was supposed to interview with a company called The Brand Institute and I got completely turned off when the COO hung up the telephone on me during the time that was supposed to be our telephone interview. Basically when I called at the appointed time the voice mail directed me to his extension (no receptionist answered the line I was told to call) and I dialed it (how foolish, huh?). Well it got through to his line and he cut me off after I introduced myself by saying "Look I don't know who you are, how you got my number or why you're calling me but you need to call the reception desk back okay".
Not only was he rude about it but when I called back to tell the receptionist I no longer wanted to speak with him or interview with the company, I didn't even get a response. Oh did I mention his brother is the CEO of the company! What a waste of my time and effort.
I have resolved in my brief search for a job that if I'm not comfortable with the person that is interviewing me I probably shouldn't take the job....but I'd like some other thoughts in case I encounter this scenario again (I hope there are not more jerks that lack telephone etiquette out there that own a business)....
