I recently watched an amusing news story on network television, about a number of college students who are getting degrees in Astrology! The commentator went on to say that such people will be in demand in such areas as corporate communications, counseling, and education. My God! There are hundreds of thousands, and perhaps even millions, of engineers, MBA's, and other "overqualified" souls who are unemployed right now. What in the hell can corporate recruiters be thinking when they hire the underqualified? I read "Big Pinhead's" remarks below, and couldn't disagree more. |

Clarification: I agree with "Pinhead's" remarks and have firsthand experience dealing with ageism. Rather, I disagree strongly with the attitude among corporate recruiters, that seasoned candidates should be branded as "overqualified" because they are somehow dangerous or too difficult to work with. What a terrible waste of human capital.
