I totally agree with your feelings and infact my brother is going thru the same situation, but there could be reasons. Let me tell you about the situation at my work place and how confused different depts in an org are in this economy.
I work for a company in NY as a consultant and they want to let go all consultants who worked over 2 years( becos of some Microsoft litigation).My boss is trying to hire me as an employee and HR meanwhile has orders to freeze the headcount and asked my boss to hire a consultant in my place, but at the same time also told him that they could be a way to possibly make me an employee.
So, I am intervewing people who could POSSIBLY come into my position and my boss is going to offer them TENTATIVE offers, if my employment process doesnt go thru, then they will be hired or else they will be told that the position is CLOSED.
I think this confusion is existing in many companies...and that is why you see all these positions being closed for one reason or the other.
Since I am not assured of a job, I am on the lookout also. |

These employers are probably also complaining about the difficulty of finding good ee's. They're so disfunctional that they fail to see the connection between mistreatment and poor performance. Keep looking, and only stay with them as a last resort.
