The problem is that there are so many more of us out there looking, and few openings, so you do get people simply hammering out resume's for anything and everything.
It makes you really sick when you spend time making sure you have the right experience, tailor you cover letters to highlight this, and send it in, and hear nothing. Of course knowing that the interviews will go to someone who may not be as well suited as you are, but they have the "right schools", or the "right companies" on the resume.
Just think, if we had all gone to Ivy League schools, all had their designated GPA's, and all had experience from whichever "top end" (AKA Elitist) firms, then what would they do to pigeon hole people then? mmm, maybe even read resume's clearly enough to see what people actually did while they were in a job. Wow, that would be a novel concept!
