Handhelds are a relatively small category (Palm, Handspring, Microsoft CE various Palm licencees) and it looks like that the vp of sales is looking to steal a top producer from one of your competitors. Based on that assumption, your company is probably not the market leader in the category or at the very least is not the leader with in a specific distribution channel or is trying to sell into a major account that competitors have a stronger presence in. Find out if this is the case. If so, pitch to him people who have a track record of selling to the specific distribution channel or a strong relationship with the account he is trying to increase his presnce with or break into. |

Channel sales organizations such as MicroWarehouse, CDW and Insight deal with handhelds a lot these days, and often have product experts in this field. Someone coming from those environments might be able to help you.
