Anyway...two things. Don't believe a lot of what's posted on this site or the stuff the "experts" that write articles on here tell you. Most of that is stuff that is conventional wisdom, which is almost always incorrect.
The other thing is to assess all your skills and don't put yourself in a box, like many HR types will try to do. Sell a package of skills and not "I am a designer".
As for answering the question? 7 years is not job hopping. Sometimes we need to follow our instincts and face new challenges. Don't apologize for it or make up some canned answer.

I totally agree with you.
I don't really classify myself as a conventional person anyway. I am really sick of recruiters and HR trying to put you amongst a certain label.
Don't they realize that we are many things?
