And I have to tell you how to deal with being "overqualified"?
Ok - here goes: Only apply jobs for which you are not overqualified. Sheesh!
Trust me on this - you do not want to work for a company who would do this. They will think of you as a desperate chump they can take advantage of. You will be more miserable than when you were unemployed. You will hate getting up in the morning and going to work. You will be embarrassed to admit to what you do. They won't respect you and you won't stick around. |

So let get this straight. You know how others will react in a given situation. Are you a mind reader? Do you think that everyone will react to a job that they have all the skills for and them some in the same way? What are you basing your conclusions on how a person will react to a job? I'll tell you this though, I'm currently unemployed and in the midst of a job search. I do not see as a chump, maybe a little desperate but not a chump. Based upon what you have wrote so far, you come across as narrow minded and prejudiced. Are you so positive that is the only way that a person will react? To me if had been offered a job that paid 5-10 less than what I was making I would at least seriously consider it, but thats me. You would have us hold out for a job that might not come for several years. Please elaborate, giving no fewer than five specific detailed examples on how you 'know' that one would be miserable in a job that they have a few more skills than the job requires.
