In Reply To: Although....there are stalking laws in this country. Persistence is everything when targeting a job. Everything in life goes to the person who wants it most. If you are hell-bent on one particular company, then go for it by any means necessary. It's easy to sell yourself when you know exactly what you want. I have my suspicions as to whether or not "resume databases" exist at all. You shouldn't worry to much about that. Good Luck, I've been there...
Message: I posted about 3 weeks ago that "The Jury Is Still Out" regarding effort. I agree that you have to use every resource possible, but you have to know how the company (read HR) views that effort. I had a 5-hour interview from hell with a company, where 2 hours were spent sitting alone waiting for the hiring manager to get out of a meeting. It seemed the hiring manager was trying to sell me on the company. It was obvious that they were very disorganized and needed help. I would have been happy to help them ASAP. The dates that both the HR contact and hiring manager gave came and went several times. I either e-mailed or called them the day after to inquire about the process with no reply. 3 weeks after the interview, I get a call from the HR contact. She stated that, even though my interview included being introduced to his wife who works there on my way out, I was too pushy and wanted to make unnecessary changes. After I put my teeth back in my mouth, I asked the HR contact if they possibly had me confused with another candidate. She went on to tell me that based on information from all of the team (I met with 1 team member ), I was too pushy. After attempting to reach another HR contact from my past at the company, the same HR person calls me back. She proceeded to cover her hindside and stated that the issue was closed. So, be careful how much effort you put into your effort. If your efforts have to be increased by a lack of responsibility on both the HR contact, do you really want to work for a company like that? After discussing this topic with several recruiters, the concensus was that you send a thank you letter to everyone you formally interview with and ONE single follow-up phone call to your company contact. If it's a sales job, you may want to be a little more persistent, but otherwise let them contact you. If they want you, they will contact you.
