6 jobs in 15 years does not mean you've changed jobs every 2 1/2 years.
I suspect that you've had 1 or 2 jobs that lasted 5 years or more and the other positions may have been bad fits, companies going out of business, entry level jobs when you first finished college, emergency jobs to pay the rent when nothing else was available during a recession like now or in 90 etc. This means you are not automatically a job hopper and may have spent several years on one or more jobs.

How do you explain to a potentional employer, that a majority of the positions you held in the past, you left because it was a bad fit, or the company was downsizing, or you were laid off, or it was an entry level position, or just a job to pay the rent, etc, with out making your self look bad to the potentional employer?
I have held 5 jobs in the past 7 years with a range of being there from 10 months to 2 years. Unfornately, I would find out after it was too late that either the company was a bad fit, financially they weren't doing so well, or there was company politics getting in the way.
Either way this makes me look like a job hopper who may not stick around for my next job too long, but in reality I am actually looking for a long-term position. The last thing I want is to hop for job to job.
Granted, I think alot of it has to do with the field that I work in (Graphic Artist).
