I'm in my first job search in 10 years. I've found the rules have changed quite a bit and am not certain how to read some things. I'd appreciate a little feedback on this situation.
I completed what was supposted to be a final round of interwiews last week. It's been eight business days since the interview and I haven't heard a thing.
I'm not certain how to read this. It's possible I am the second choice and they are waiting to hear from candidate number one (at least I hope). However, I've found that firms seem a lot less professional in the hiring process than they used to be.
Is it now common for firms to just not advise candidates if the decision has gone another way?

I have had dozens of interviews in my career. If you don't make the cut--you will not hear a verbal peep. I have heard you might hear something from government jobs. You might get the wonderful postcard or letter though. I had a 5 hour interview 8 days ago...they are waiting for $ to come in...I suppose when the $ comes in I will get a job? I'm not waiting around...keep applying for jobs you might miss a wonderful opportunity just waiting for some lame HR person to 'get around to it'.
Look out for #1- YOU!!
