In Reply To: Or perhaps because HR didn't have the time to properly review your resume because it had to go through thousands of such and out of laziness picked only cookie cutter backgrounds. Or perhaps HR had no clue that the person's background was suitable for the position since they will only consider someone with the same job title or a half a step below (regardless of actual job responsibilities)for a larger competitor for a job.
Message: Yes - HR has a tough job, and like all of us they make mistakes. For example, I applied for a management position with a company through thier web site. I also mailed a copy of my resume and a cover letter to HR. In addition, I researched the company and found the name of the VP for that division and mailed a resume and cover letter to him. The letter to the VP found its way to the hiring manager and resulted in an interview and job offer. And what did I get from HR - a reject letter saying I was not qualified.
