Same boat-laid off last June-1 year after getting the MBA and trying to change careers-so, i can't sell my experience and can't position as entry level b/c the MBA scares em off-horrible, horrible situation & really can't see the light at the end of the tunnel
nonetheless, i'll keep looking b/c my alternative is continuing my fabulous job waiting tables at night-completely ludicrous & demoralizing-my biggest challenge is controlling the anger b/c i am seriously pissed off at this point
Here's the kicker-i was laid off at A.Andersen so there some irony in all this-don't wish this on anybody but i can't help but cheer as my old bosses get their god damn asses thrown out on the street-i hope they end up in line at a soup kitchen |

It won't help your job search directly...but, find the biggest hill in your town, put on some running shoes and run up the hill, twice! It will help burn off some steam. I try to exercise a few times every week. I had to give up my gym (ugh!), and running is cheap, ha!
If you don't burn off the anger, it will seep into your networking. People are incredibly perceptive, even if they don't realize it. Sometimes focusing on them rather than yourself takes the pressure off.
Totally understand about the crappy work. Clerical temp works sucks, BUT, I've always been able to go pass what they want and "fix managerial or efficiency problems" in the offices and gain respect, much to the chagrin of the real secretaries. Actually got a few referrals this way.
Life is never fair at the superficial/material level. It evens itself out in other ways. Hang in there.
