If it's any consolation to you, I graduated from Yale, worked in investment banking, making 100k my first year out, now i'm looking to work in finance but there's hardly anyone hiring. i'm thinking about doing something "beneath me" just so I can make some money but it's worth it to keep on trying for what you really want to do. even in down markets, there are people and companies that are hiring. you've got to be smart though. the most helpful article that i've ever read about job huntint is at http://www.asktheheadhunter.com/basics1.htm it's a great read. feel free to email me for advice. i've been able to get one job offer from networking and awaiting to hear back from an interview today. (keeping my fingers crossed). it's hard to hit the pavement and knock down doors but after doing it for a while, you get quite good at it and i sort of enjoy it (although i'd rather have a job already...)
